Keyword Tips
- Keep in mind that computer databases are very literal-minded. Keep your search simple. One word or phrase is best. If you have a complex inquiry, the Guided Search option might work better for you.
- The keyword(s) search below searches all Project Titles, Project Summaries, Utility Names, Program Types, and Sectors; the Guided Search provides a form with drop-down listboxes to build a more specific search; and the Latest Programs button provides a list of programs entered within the last 60 days.
- Only Project Title, Project Summary, Utility Name, Program Type, and Sector fields are searched.
- Search words entered as a phrase are looked for as a phrase. A query with "renewable energy" finds only "renewable energy." It doesn't find text with "renewable" and "energy" separated by other words.
- Singular or root versions of search words work best. "renew" finds "renewable," renewables," and even "new;" "renewables" finds only "renewables."
- Case does not matter; either upper or lower case works. "Cogeneration" and "cogeneration" find the same entries.
- Spelling and, unfortunately, punctuation do matter. For instance, try hyphenated words or phrases with and without the hyphen.
- AND, OR, and NOT won't work.
- Don't bother with words like "utility," or "energy." They are understood for most entries.
Guided Search Tips
- You may select options from one or more listboxes, but the more you use, the more you limit your search, and the shorter your results list will be.
- The ALL TYPES search in the Program Type listbox searches within all Program Types. To limit your search to specific Program Types, highlight them. (Holding down Ctrl key allows selection of multiple Program Types.)
- The All Sectors search only searches within the All Sectors category. It does not search within Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Agricultural and Other sectors. These must be searched separately. (Holding down Ctrl key allows selection of multiple Sectors.)
- If you don't see a Program Type which fits your interest, try a keyword search:
- Entries are being added all the time. If you check the Utility Options database regularly, and just want to see the newest entries, set "Date Added" to "Last 2 months."
